FAQ
The Nutrilite Garlic with Licorice combines concentrated garlic with licorice extract. Licorice is a wonderful complement to garlic since it counteracts the stomach irritation or heartburn that may be caused by consuming garlic. This formulation eliminates any unpleasant after-odour, so it will not offend you or those around you.
One full serving of the Nutrilite Garlic with Licorice (3 tablets) is equivalent to one and two-thirds whole, fresh garlic. Note: The ratio of raw garlic to dry granulated powder is three to one. An average clove of garlic weighs about 1,800 milligrams. Thus, 1,000 milligrams of garlic powder is equivalent to 3,000 milligrams of fresh, whole garlic. The consumption of 1,000 milligrams of garlic powder (found in 3 tablets) would therefore be equivalent to one and two thirds whole, fresh garlic cloves.
Allicin and the components (by-products or derivatives) that form when garlic is broken down create the characteristic odour of garlic on the breath and skin. These by-products are created at varying levels within different individuals. These are the same components thought to provide health benefits. To preserve the benefit of allicin and yet avoid its smell, the garlic in Nutrilite Garlic with Licorice undergoes a proprietary cool-drying process. The first step in this process is the close inspection and screening of whole cloves of garlic. The garlic is then peeled, crushed, and gently air-dried for 30 minutes. This process helps control the release of the enzyme alliinase and thus limits the rate of conversion of alliin to allicin, holding the conversion of allicin-based compounds until the product is consumed.
